Volunteers Needed to Serve on City Boards

The City of Guthrie has several boards and commissions comprised of dedicated volunteers who advise the City Council on a variety of matters. The City is currently accepting applications for openings or pending openings on the following boards:

Board of Adjustment – The Board of Adjustment reviews appeals in the enforcement of zoning ordinances and makes recommendations to the City Council. The Board of Adjustment meets at 5:30 p.m. the 3rd Thursday of each month. For requirements and an application, click here.

Convention and Visitor Bureau Board – The Convention and Visitor Bureau Board advises City Council on matters pertaining to tourism, and oversees the Convention and Visitor Bureau with the purpose of promoting general interest in and for the City of Guthrie, improving conditions of all types of businesses in and around Guthrie by increasing visitors and tourism in Guthrie, and promoting Guthrie as a meeting place and overnight visitor destination. The Convention and Visitor Bureau Board meets the 3rd Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. For requirements and an application, click here.

Forestry Advisory Board – The Forestry Advisory Board advises City Council on issues regarding the development of a community forestry plan and improvement of the urban forest resources within the City. The Forestry Advisory Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of January, April, July, and October. For requirements and an application, click here.

Guthrie Edmond Regional Airport Board – The Guthrie Edmond Regional Airport Board advises and make recommendations to the City Council in regard to airport matters. For requirements and an application, click here.

Historic Preservation Commission – The Historic Preservation Commission reviews applications for alterations to the exterior of buildings located within the Guthrie Capital Townsite Historic District. The Historic Preservation Ordinance, administered by the Historic Preservation Commission provides for the preservation, protection, enhancement, restoration, rehabilitation, renovation, and perpetuation of certain improvements, structures, signs, and sites within the Capital Townsite Historic District. The Historic Preservation Commission meets the first Monday of each month at 5:30 pm. For requirements and an application, click here.

Guthrie Library Board – The Guthrie Library Board establishes library policies, assists the director in library administration and planning, and serves as library advocates. For requirements and an application, click here.

Park Board – The Park Board advises City Council on matters pertaining to parks and recreational programs. The Park Board meets bimonthly on the third Thursdays of January, March, May, July, September, and November. For requirements and an application, click here.
