VOLUNTEERS NEEDED


Forestry Advisory Board Volunteer

The City of Guthrie is requesting applications for persons interested in volunteering to serve on the Forestry Advisory Board.  All Board and Commission appointments require residency within the City of Guthrie. This volunteer will be appointed at-large by the Mayor with approval of the City Council.
The Forestry Advisory Board serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council on issues regarding the City's development of a community forestry plan and improvement of the urban forest resources within the City. Applicants are chosen based on interest and/or expertise in urban forestry. The Board meets bi-monthly.

Applications are available in the City Manager's office, 3rd floor of City Hall, 101 N. Second St., Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Application period closes Oct 01, 2018, or until filled.Applications will be reviewed as needed.

Board of Adjustments

The City of Guthrie is requesting applications for persons interested in volunteering to serve on the Board of Adjustment. For consideration, applicants must reside within the City of Guthrie; the position will be appointed at-large by the Mayor with approval of the City Council. The Board of Adjustment will review appeals in the enforcement of the zoning ordinance. Applications are available in the Planning Department, 2nd floor, City Hall, 101 N. 2nd St.

Library Board 

The Guthrie Public Library Board meets quarterly on the third Thursday of January, April, July, and October, and serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council on all matters concerning the Guthrie Public Library. Ordinance No. 2678 requires the Guthrie Library Board to consist of five (5) citizens of the City of Guthrie who have been residents within the corporate limits for at least one year. All members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council. 


Responsibilities: 
- Establish the policies of the library. 
- Assist the director in administering the library through established board committees. 
- Engage in short and long-range planning for the library 
- Serve as library advocates by promoting the library at all times through their daily activities.

Historic Preservation Commission 

There are three positions on the Historic Preservation Commission whose terms expire on March 31, 2019. . All three current commission members are eligible for re-appointment to new three-year terms through March 31, 2022. New applicants are also encouraged to apply for consideration. Two of the positions are for owners of property within the Guthrie Capitol Townsite Historic District.  These Members must be residents of the City. The third position is for an individual having special knowledge or background of the history and architecture of the city. This member need not be resident of the city although preference will be given to those residing in the city.

All three positions shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.  Applications are available at or may be printed and turned into Annette LeGrande, Administrative Assistant to the City Manager., 3rd floor of City Hall, 101 N. 2nd St., Guthrie. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
